ART & DESIGN FROM STEPHEN M CAMPBELL

ABOUT

I feel much happier when I'm not putting things on the internet, then I feel guilty for not putting things on the internet.

I learnt to code because it makes tedious calculations and measurements quicker but I have little patience for making slick websites.

See my work at Clark Art in Hale, also at Colourfield Gallery in Poynton. Or come and visit me at The Puzzle Factory in Eccles. Go to the Fine Art page to see some pictures.
I am an artist and designer working in Manchester UK.
I don't know if art should be enjoyable, or challenging, if it should be everlasting, silly, gimicky, emotional, cerebral, expensive or cheap. I just don't want it to be boring.
I do a lot of painting. I like to think that I am painting more than can be seen. Sometimes that means painting a bit of the real world, sometimes it means painting a bit of the abstract world.
I am very particular about my materials so I make all my own paint. I wish I could say I came up with all the Mathematical concepts too.

INTERACTIVE PROJECTS AND WEB DEVELOPMENT

Painting is messy, and code is clean (sometimes).

I love puzzles, games and solving problems. Which is why I learnt to code. I have to say even though it might be responsible for my increasing baldness I really enjoy it.

I've put together this little portfolio of projects which I came up with, designed, coded, redisgned, recoded, redesigned, recoded ad infinitum.

Some of this code has developed from paintings or been used to create paintings, so some of them are illustrated with a painting.

FINE ART

I do my own thing and make all my own paint.

I've done an awful lot of painting. They usually start as wondering "What would that look like?" so I try and work it out.

I am represented by >> Clark Art >> in Hale who specialise in Northern art. Where I have had a succesful career painting the North of England.

Now you can also find some of my paintings at >> Colourfield Gallery >> in Poynton.

BLOG

Sometimes I feel obliged to share things with the internet.

Visit my blog for works in progress, more applications I've written and the odd bit of news.
